When Ocean Burns Interview
We talked to female fronted, When Ocean Burns…
As you’re female fronted, do you find you get compared to Paramore?
Well there aren’t many female fronted groups, so it’s easy for people to compare us to them. Paramore, Tonight Alive, WATIC, VersaEmerge…
If you do, do you mind it?
They are very very good bands, and they are our influences, so we don’t mind being compared to them, it’s very flattering, because it means we’re doing something right, we’re on the good way to being like them in the future.
Tell us about your new song, ‘Miles of Hopes’.
Well, Miles. David and Alex wrote the lyrics, and we wanted it to be like a letter, written by each of us to our parents, in the middle of a tour. We say that it’s difficult to be without them so many times and we miss them; but in another way we love it, we love to play music and it’s the way that we want to live, we want them to know it’s hard but we’re happy.
It’s one of our favourite songs, it has a guitar solo that we really love, and it’s usually the last song of our shows. We really enjoy it so much when we’re playing it!
Will you be releasing a music video for it?
Hahaha, we don’t know! We’re waiting to record a videoclip but we don’t know where, when or what song! It’s hard to choose…
Do you find it more difficult to interact with your non-Spanish fans?
Mmmmm, maybe yes, because of the language. For the moment we’ve understood everyone who has talked to us! We haven’t got big problems with anyone if they can speak Spanish or English, which is almost everyone. Although our English is not perfect, as you can see!
Are you working on any new music?
Yes! We’re finishing an EP with eight songs, but we have another EP waiting for us to be recorded properly next year! So we have to write new songs for it.
Do you have any plans to tour in other countries any time soon?
A lot of plans, but only in our heads for the moment… We’re trying to be known in Spain, and after that if we can of course we want to be playing outside, as soon as possible, but it’s hard to do it… With patience, work and time we hope to be playing everywhere!
